Each year some of the World’s best folk musicians converge on Warren Wilson College for a series of intensive week long workshops, with names like Celtic Week, Fiddle Week and Old-Time Week.
You’ll see tents all around the campus with small groups of musicians either studying or jamming and practicing what they’ve learned. The campus comes alive with the sound of music!
Three of our July dances are run in conjunction with the Swannanoa Gathering, with the staff for that week providing the music.
And how good is that staff? Well take a look at the Web site, and for Fiddle Week note, for example, that Jamie Laval, 2002 fiddle champion and half of Carolina Dingos, will be there. (See:
for the full Fiddle Week staff.)
So come lose yourself in the music and dance the warm Summer nights away to the sounds of some of the best musicians in the World.

Stolen Cash Boxes
Twice in the last few weeks, someone has stolen the OFB cash box from the Thursday night dance, after it was put away.
When it’s put away, it has just the single dollar bills we use for change for the next dance, but that money is money that is lost from the bands.
The OFB is a non-profit organization, and the bulk of the dance revenues go to keeping the music we all love playing.
The bigger fiscal cost is the cost of the money box itself. The emotional cost, in our all volunteer organization, is this lack of trust we must now have due to some unknown individual in our midst.
If anyone can provide information, or get the boxes returned, that would be greatly appreciated. 828-350-7576
