Advanced Dances

The OFB Advanced Dances begin this month on the third Fridays. The first dance is January 21st.

The dances will be held at the Masonic Lodge on the corner of Woodfin and Broadway near the I-240 Merrimon exchange in downtown Asheville. Parking is available at the Home Trust Bank across the street.

The January dance will feature the soaring sounds of Land of Sky with Beth Molaro calling. Check out the Web site 'performers' link for some samples of their music.

In February we'll have the Inexplicabillies with Barbara Groh.

Look to both of these top callers to create challenging fun evenings of dance.

See the Web site for more details, and mark Jan 21 on your calendar for the first one.

Contra Jam / Open Mic
Pie & Cake

Last month's Contra Jam and Pie & Cake night was a tremendous success. We had a dozen or more musicians playing under the leardership of Laura Lengnick and Art Shuster.

The result was an energetic big band sound that you simply don?t get on most dance nights. Check out the videos on

http://www.oldfarmersball.com/performers

to get a flavor of that night.

The next Contra Jam / Open Mic will be February 3rd led by Laurie Fisher and Karen Gaughan, with Anne Marie Walter leading the open mic.

Musicians, bring your instruments; Callers your cards; and Dancers your feet.

And Bakers!

Bring a pie or a cake and get in for $3! Everyone en-joy a smorgasbord of sweets at the break.
